Home Phone Service

Home Phone Service for less than 100 bucks a year.

A truly refreshing experience with a phone company that sells phone service for only $99 per year.

I was shopping around for Home Phone service for a while since I was tired of paying $42 per month for Comcast Digital Phone Service after the 1 year promotion expired. Prior to that I was paying $57 per month with Verizon. That just is too much money when there are cell phone expenses, Internet service expenses and the list goes on. So after looking around I stumbled across a company called TeleBlend who was offering phone service at $99 per year and that was not even a promotional price. I decided to check them out and basically as long as I had a Broadband Internet Connection like DSL, Cable or FiOS, I could use their service at $99 per year.

The signup process on the TeleBlend web site was quite simple and I chose the option to port my number to them. After receiving an email confirmation instantly, I was feeling pretty good about my decision so far. After all, I was paying for my Internet service already, why not take advantage of it and only pay $8 for phone service every month. And that included all long distance calls to the US and Canada.

Within 4 days I received my Welcome Kit in the mail that had an Adapter (Gizmo), some cables and a manual. The setup was a breeze as all I had to do was connect the WAN port on the Adapter to my Comcast modem and then restart the Adapter and the Comcast modem. I connected my telephone handset to the Adapter and that was it. Picked up the phone and called my sister in San Francisco and worked and sounded great. I cannot believe it was that simple.

I decided to login to my Member Portal and check out the features. Now that was a pleasant surprise. I could block calls from any phone number with a clic of a button, forward my phone to my cell phone or even have it try several numbers like my office number and cell phone at the same time to reach me. The voicemail features were truly amazing. I could have the TeleBlend phone notify that I have a voicemail by sending me a message via AIM, Yahoo or MSN messenger. You can even do SMS text to your cell phone or have it send you an email of the voicemail. All that for $99 year. With Comcast Digital Phone and Verizon all I had was a telephone to make and receive calls.

In conclusion, I must truly say that I have had the service for about 4 months and it looks and works like any other phone. The only difference is that I no longer see a phone bill. Check them out. Send me a comment and let me know what you think.
