Considering Opening A Coffee Shop? Think Location, Location, Location

In business world, location is extremely important. Most of us have heard the saying "location, location, location". Well, when you are thinking about opening a coffee shop - location should be one of your first considerations.

There is a reason why location, location, location is the well known mantra for just about any business in the world. Spend time scouting out locations that you feel would be great places to open a coffee shop and ask yourself the following questions.

Is this is a high traffic location?

Face it, a lot of people are just plain lazy. You want to find a location that people will drive by or walk in easily. In other words, you want to select a location for your coffee shop that is in a high traffic area if a big business is your goal. If you find a location that you think is perfect for a coffee shop sit back sometime and see how much traffic actually drives by the place you are considering. If the rate of traffic is high, you will get a good bit of value from setting up shop.

Can your customers easily get into and out of your location?

As a customer, I find it frustrating when a business that is located in an area that is difficult to get in and out of. Coffee shop customers are going to be in a hurry and are usually on the go. You want to make it a asy as possible to get in and get out.People are more likely to make you a daily or weekly stop if your business is easy for them to enter and exit. Many coffee shop have two drive thru windows for added convenience, this is something else you may want to consider for your location if possible.<

Is it near entertainment?

Many people enjoy stopping in for a cup of coffee and perhaps a sweet treat after a night at the movie, theater, or even a game of bowling.

A great cup of coffee and a snack is a very nice way to end the day especially if you have a variety of decaf on hand. Even those that may not have considered it before will find they are ready to make the stop after a movie-especially if they are on a date and are just not quite ready for it to end. Imagine how happy they will be to see your coffee shop is open right there conveniently located near the theater or other entertainment venue.

So make sure you choose your location carefully for the best possible results. Location won't guarantee success but a great location is a good way to avoid failure. When planning your coffee shop keep all locations in mind, ask the questions mentioned above, and go with the location that you feel is the best (provided you can afford it.) Remember, how the building looks can always be changed later on; location is what you are selecting now.
