How To Promote Your Internet Retail Store

Promoting an Internet Retail Store isn't the same as marketing Affiliate Programs or Adsense for example. Just so we're clear on the definition of what an Internet Retail Store is, they are basically physical products from a manufacturer outside of the IM Niche that people load up in their shopping carts and purchase. They could sell anything from Pool Tables, Pinball Machines, Poker Supplies, Swords or Cigarettes.

In many cases drop shippers are used that send these products directly to the customer so they think the products are coming from you. Sometimes they offer xml feeds so customers who visit your site know which products are in stock and which products are out of stock. Typically manufacturers or drop shippers will provide you with images, product codes, titles and product descriptions.

The first thing you want to do is rewrite all of the product titles and product descriptions. This is for SEO Benefits of unique content. Otherwise you'll have the same content out there as all of your competitors promoting the same content. You probably should do this as your getting your products online, so you don't procrastinate on this.

Also you want to break up your store into specific categories related to what you are offering. If you are putting 200 products up for example, each category should be keyword researched and be the best traffic and lowest competitive keyword you can find related to the product that you want to promote. We recommend using Market Samurai but if you have another Keyword Research Tool you like you can use that as well.<

Once you get all the products up and the product titles and descriptions rewritten, you should consider starting with a Press Release. This will get the Search Engines crawling all over it and get you some backlinks to start off with. You should use your main site keyword as anchor text when submitting your Press Release, and also link to a couple of the section pages using relevant anchor text as well.

Then I would write one article per day for 90 days related to keywords around the topic of your store. Use anchor text links in your author bio and link to all the section pages of the store and even deep link to some products. Also within the description of your individual products randomly link to other products in your store. This is building internal links throughout your Internet Retail Store.

After 90 days of doing this you should have a totally unique site to you filled with products you are selling with great commissions and incoming links. There are many other ways to get links and you should explore those as well, such as Social Bookmarking, Videos and the list goes on. Go out and get a ton of links, the more the merrier.

The Center Of The Google Vs Facebook War: The Like Button

By now it has become well known that Google is planning a competitor to Facebook. While many believe that it may be too little too late for Google, the reality is that it’s a matter of survival for the company at this point. Google’s automated algorithms have become inefficient in that their systems are somewhat easy to game and despite Marissa Mayer once claiming that search is 90 percent solved, the reality is that it isn’t anywhere close. Every day I perform searches on Google which simply fail. For me, searching has become a rapid process of trial an error. Enter the Like button, the social solution to search, and the replacement of the link as a voting mechanism. The people as a whole are more effective at determining what content is relevant and most of those people are unfortunately not effective at creating links. Case in point: there were 126 million blogs as of 2009 (easy to create sites where creating links is easy) and there are now over 500 million Facebook users activel...
